Who closes the zoo for a private party?

We thought Friday was going to be Ben's last day in town for awhile so we decided to drive down to the zoo and celebrate the beautiful day. As we pulled in we thought it was a little strange that most people were leaving and nobody was entering and as we neared the gates we noticed everything was locked down. There was a small sign near the front saying that they had closed early for a private party. Just our luck. Seriously though, who has the funds to close down the entire zoo? Only in Houston. We decided to walk around and enjoy the weather anyway. Right behind the zoo are these fun parks and splash pads and since we had extra clothes for Beck we let him run around. It was a fun day followed by a fun night (Dinner at Goose's Acre and Zombieland). Best of all, his job canceled and he's still home with me!
